My favorite subject
This semester I have an
interesting subject that is called Anthropology of nature. This course is what
we call an applied; because the main idea is to work on what’s really happening,
no just stay in books and theory. To do this, the main assignment to evaluate
this subject is by means of a field trip to Limarí valley. We have to choose a
research topic to apply to what we live during the experience, which is in
total two weeks. Besides the trip, in class we usually talk about the other experiences
of our classmates, and in this way we have been able to build an overview of
what happens on Limarí, their traditions, their problems, their ways to
relating, the local economy, and many other relevant aspects to the social anthropology.
Our teacher, Jorge Razeto, is a rural anthropologist who teaches us concepts, methodologies,
history and many tools to apply on our field work. For example, we review the
concepts of landscape, territory, environment, and local words.
